Background and Purpose: Effective service delivery of early childhood intervention (ECI) can only be built on the appropriate collaboration among agencies, service providers and families. Little literature has been devoted to examining the collaborative process in service delivery. It is imperative to fill the knowledge gap of collaborative service delivery from adult stakeholders’ perspectives. This paper focuses on the perspectives of the service providers regarding difficulties and factors that influence collaboration and satisfaction with collaborative practice. Methods: This paper uses a quantitative methodology to gather service provider’s perception towards collaboration in service delivery of ECI. In total, 75 service providers agreed to participate in the study and they were selected using stratified sampling Results: The findings highlight the values and practice of working together with families in effective collaboration. Insufficient funding and time, and shortage of staff were most cited as the difficulties with collaboration. Longer employment in an agency and ECI are found to be the factors in relation to the satisfaction with collaborative practice. Conclusions: Service providers must possess both values and skills of working together with families that enable them to be effective collaborators. A longer duration of working would help networking and to establish good team relationships, which can increase the effectiveness of collaborative practice. Keywords: collaborative practice, service delivery, early childhood intervention
