“Briefs or Boxers” Which one is the better choice after quitting the diapers for boys with behavior problems?

Background: During the COVID-19 period, many children didn’t attend school and took online classes at home. Then, many boys with behavior problems occurred at that period, the same point of them was that they wore boxers after quitting their diapers. We wonder if they changed to wearing briefs, would the behavior problems decrease or not?  

Purpose & Methods: The intervention to the 40 boys with behavior problems were  between 2 to 4 years old. And all of their scores of CBCL_1.5-5 were more than 150 points. All we asked the caregivers to do was from then on, they changed the boys underpants from boxers to briefs, andnd kept scoring CBCL_1.5-5 every month till one year later.        

Results: At the first three months, 10 boys (25%) that their scores of CBCL_1.5-5 were under 100 points after they changed from boxers to briefs. With comparing to the other 30 boys who still wore boxers, their scores of CBCL_1.5-5 were still more than 150 points. And then half-year later, plus 14 boxer boys who wore briefs, total 24 boys (60%) boys were under 100 points. A year later, 30 boys wearing briefs (75%) were under 100 points. On the other hand, 10 boys wearing boxers never changed to briefs, their scores of CBCL_1.5-5 were still more than 100 points.

Discussion: To sum up, we may consider that boys, after quitting their diapers, wearing briefs is a better choice for them than boxers. That may because during the Phallic stage, their private parts need a whole cover and more support than the relax choices. The phallic stage is also a key point connected to developing self-discipline.
